Summer Olympics
The opening ceremony for the 2012 Olympics is coming this Friday! Whether you adore watching events that are individual team events, there’s one thing for everyone.
The London Olympics also present the opportunity to cheer on current and former Trojans! There may well be more than 30 athletes participating in sports such as water polo, volleyball, and track representing the Trojan family. There may also be lots of current USC coaches whom are going to be lending their coaching expertise during the Olympic games.
USC has a tradition that is long of Olympic athletes. From 1904 to 2008, there has been nearly 400 athletes whom either attended the university before, during, or after their Olympic competition. USC has sent more athletes to the Olympics than virtually any college and our athletes have made a total that is grand of medals.
The Olympics are a time for you to cheer on our country’s athletes and also unite together on a global platform. We enjoy watching the beach volleyball matches and I’m excited to see exactly how far the two former Trojans competing in beach volleyball go! Keep an eye out for each of USC’s many Olympic competitors—they just might bring home the gold.
The Expo Line is open!! finally!
The expansion of Los Angeles’s light rail train system (LA Metro) has finally opened after six years of anticipation. The Expo Line could be the perfect way for USC students, staff, and faculty to have across the city without getting behind the wheel. The new line has three stops directly next door from our campus. One end is on the side that is northeast of plus the other two take the south side of campus.
By using the Expo Line, students can get almost anywhere in the city and take advantage that is full of Los Angeles provides. It’s simply a short five-minute ride on the Expo Line to the Los Angeles Metro Station and from there students can link to the other light rail train lines that operate through the city.
Some members of our office have already traded in their cardinal and gold parking permits for the monthly metro pass to overcome their commutes to work. Welcome Straight Back, Students!

Our campus is busy with students and families getting everything all set for the year that is academic. Welcome Week has officially begun.
