Story

When he drives a car while drunk, Mark loses his driver’s license and has to take an MPA. During the course, he meets Helen and tries to sober up with her, but temptations are everywhere..

I can’t see that

After Mark’s first failed attempt at sobriety, Helen mentioned that he only managed to stay sober for 27 days [00:41:50]. After that [00:42:35] the calendar pages pinned up in Mark’s apartment indicated that he had only been successful for 25 days.

So, as always, there’s no thinking involved here

And the film kind of makes that clear from the start. They even talk and tell our main character what he’s probably thinking.

Lau is a great actor, he really gives it his all

It doesn’t register with him – at least not enough to help or make him change anything. The story is predictable, but you stick around because you’re mesmerized by the performances – and that includes the other players (Tschirner, to name just one).

Best watched sober

Clichés and suspension of disbelief go hand in hand – or should.
