Segun Aiyesun

Segun Aiyesun was born in Benin City, Nigeria in 1971. He graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University, IIe-Ife, Nigeria in 1995. Segun is a totally self-taught artist and has been at it professionally since 1996. He is resident in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

Aiyesan’s fascination with nature and colours started quite early. “I guess I was born an artist, I can recall myself fiddling with drawings and paints as early as four years old”. As a young boy, his favourite hobby was collecting comics and trying to draw the characters. His parent did not support and develop his talent and tried to steer him in a different direction. His interest and skill development was actually channelled towards self-fulfilment rather than perpetuating a career initially.
